Here Are The Best Satire Websites.

In my opinion, the best satire websites make fun of the news! You all know that regular newscasts are 99% depressing and 1% uplifting so why not turn to the best satirical websites once in a while to see the light side of the news?

Some of them may actually be termed "fake news" websites but who cares, at least it's funny.

Would It Pass The Snopes Test?

I often get sent email that hasn't been checked through Snopes or any of the other fact-checking websites. Then when I do check, I find out it is all a lie, so why not start off with a lie and then make some fun out of it? That's what most of these satire websites do.

Second City comedy comes to mind when I think of the best satire. (They even have a "fake news" set on it.) With all the "instant" communication we have today, it must be easy to get lots of material for presentation. (I'm writing this as Cheetah, (sorry) Tiger Woods is taking his turn as the butt of all jokes and I think how fast all that info got out to the world.)

What makes a good website?

So what makes a site one of the best satirical ones? Well, it has all the above elements plus a great writer (or writers) to make the best of the material. It should also be current and if at all possible interactive. (Some of us like to comment ourselves once in a while!)

Of course, a good website should also have the basic elements as well. Go here and read what these are if you're going to suggest an addition to our list below. Here are our choices:

1. The Onion
   Probably the best-known satirical source, it is also a newspaper. It is very well written and contains excellent "newscasts".
   
   
2. Private Eye
   This is England's answer to the Onion. It covers news from the U.K. and around the world, as well as fun stuff like crosswords and cartoons.
   
   
3. Indecision Forever
   This is primarily a political news website but lord knows there is a lot of fodder for satire there. It also contains clips from commercial satirists like Jon Stewart for example.
   
   
4. News Biscuit
   Specializes in the "news before it happens" and covers a broad range of topics.
   
   
5. The Spoof
   This has daily news headlines on current world affairs, sports, science and entertainment. What separates the website's content from others is that it relies solely on its readers to submit stories! (I like that.)
   
   
6. Sports Pickle
   You've probably already guessed that this site specializes in sports and therefore probably does it better than most of the other sites. It covers all the major leagues and pro sports. (Gee, I wonder if Tiger finally got featured on here?)
   
   
7. Unconfirmed Sources
   I like the disclaimer this site has: "In case you didn't get it, none of the stories are real. It's all fake. We made it all up. It's satire. The people might be real, but the quotes are not. If it gets you mad, get a life."
   
   
8. CAP News
   This is an ABC News spoof, even down to look-alike logos. It covers all news areas.
   
   
9. Enduring Vision
   Lots of great editorials and features here including "The Best Of Spam" and "What Can YOU do?"
   
   
10. Derf Magazine
    This is Cincinnati's hilarious news source that reports on world events. It also includes pet obituaries and lame horoscopes.
