Here Are My Choices For The Best Recipe Websites.

Your Comments Are Welcome.

The best recipe websites are not for people who love food; they're for people who love to "cook" food! There's a difference of course. The best recipe site in the world isn't going to be very interesting to someone who has no desire to spend the time preparing the food in his or her own kitchen.

So, this page is about people who love to prepare food.

Is This Topic Too Big?

At some point, I may have to break this one page into different pages, each specializing in different kinds of recipes. We could have a baking page, a dessert page, an appetizer page, a main course page, a salad page, etc. But for now, lets look at general recipe websites.

What Makes A Good Recipe Site?

Well, it should have lots of recipes of course, but these should also be easy to find. If you can't find what you're looking for (even if it is on the site) then the site's not much good to you.

Best Recipe Now there are 2 ways to approach this, you have these ingredients and you want to know what to do with them, or you want ideas for a dish and you'll go and get whatever ingredients you need. Either way, a good search tool on the site would be helpful.

So Here They Are

So, here are my suggestions for best recipe websites. If you think another one should be added, then let me know. Make sure it has the basics of a good site first however by checking here before you submit it. (Or, if you think one of my choices should be removed, then let me know in the form below and I'll put your suggestion on its own web page for others to comment on.)

  1. Cooks.com
This site offers good but simple recipes using ingredients that you are likely have around your kitchen. In other words, you generally don't need exotic ingredients for the most part. Of course, you can also submit recipes as well.

  2. Recipe Trove
Thirty categories and sub-categories make this an easy to navigate website. Find what you need fast.

  3. Cooking Cache
Over 7,000 recipes and counting with lots of forums and discussion groups make this an interesting site. (I like interactive sites.)

  4. Cooking.com
Lots of extras here. Sweepstakes, recipe challenges and holiday planning ideas make this a fun site to visit.

  5. My Recipes
This site has lots of pictures and also specializes in healthy menus. You can also sign up for their newsletter if you want.

  6. AllRecipes.com
Visitors are asked to try and then rate their recipes on this website. It is always a good idea to get other people's opinion of something.

  7. Epicurious
If you're looking for gourmet cooking, then this might be the place to go. Fine food and wine are the specialties here.

  8. Rachael Ray.com
This is taken from Rachael's TV show. Good food cooked on a budget plus party planning, travel and more.

  9. Food Network.com
Speaking of TV, here is a site with connections to lots of TV chefs so you can watch their creations if you want. It is also easy to navigate the site.

  10. Recipe Land.com
International foods are covered here and how to use herbs effectively. News and opinion pieces abound as well.

Do you have any best recipe sites that we should add? Do it below. (Also let us know of any that should be removed.)
