The problem with trying to find the best medical websites today is that medicine is changing so fast that it is hard to keep up with the changes. So, unless you continuously update your site, it will not be up to date.

Having said that, we must also realize that technology is also changing and speeding up and so if you are using the latest computer and Internet technology, then at least you have a chance to keep up with the changes. It seems that every day somebody somewhere has just finished a study, which promises new cures or preventions for everything from hair loss to cancer. Which ones should we look at?

Are They Up-To-Date?

In my opinion, you need to judge your best medical websites by seeing how up-to-date they keep their information. Do they search the globe for this information because nowadays, breakthroughs can come from anywhere? Also, do they deal with hoaxes and misinformation?

Can You Find What You Want?

The final question might be; "Can you find what you are looking for on the best medical site?" because so much has been written about medicine it's hard to locate your particular area of interest sometimes.

1. Web MD
   This website is constantly scrutinized for accuracy by learned people the world over, so if you want a site you can count on as much as possible, then this might be it. There are lots of ads on the site but that's the price you pay for popularity I guess.
   
   
2. Health Central
   This is a collection of websites providing trusted medical information from doctors, researchers and expert patients, as well as news, information, video and other multi-media content on health related subjects. I like their use of video particularly but their home page took a while to load and contained one of those annoying pop-up survey boxes. Other than that it was excellent.
   
   
3. Wrong Diagnosis.com
   This site is one of the world's leading providers of online medical health information. It is an independent, objective source of factual, mainstream health information for both consumers and health professionals. One feature I liked was the "Ask A Doctor" box at the top of the page that apparently had 32 doctors waiting online to answer my question.
   
   
4. My Optimum Health
   Well at first I thought that this was just another website, I realized that what it seems to do well is cover all the major concerns about health that people would have in a logical manner. That made it easy to find things and isn't that important?
   
   
5. Center For Disease Control and Prevention
   Essentially, this is a search site for basic information about anything that afflicts humans. You might start your search here but you’d probably want to continue on to other sites with more info about cures.
   
   
6. The Merck Manual
   These are a series of healthcare books for medical professionals and consumers and amount to, essentially a medical library. Because Merck is a drug company, there will be lots of information related to dosage regimens related to drugs. It is still good information however.
   
   
7. Medicine Online
   This is a fairly plain site but it is loaded with good information. It seems to lean more to the cosmetic surgery side of health.
   
   
8. Mayo Clinic
   This place is well known the world over for its cancer treatments. The website is quite plain which also means that there are a lot fewer of those annoying ads! Good information can b found here.
   
   
9. Yahoo Health
   As you might expect, this is a "slick" website. (After all, look who runs it!) You will likely find what you are looking for here but may want more depth which you will find at some of the other sites. It is a good place to start your search.
   
   
10. CNN Health
    As you might expect from a world news site, there is good global coverage here. Lots of doctors participate, so if you can find what you're looking for, this might be all you need.
