The best bodybuilding websites should not be confused with the best fitness sites (which I will also do at some point). Bodybuilding does exactly what it says. It lets people build or "sculpt" their bodies through diet and workout. It does not deal specifically with fitness.

For instance, you could be very fit because you run or cycle a lot, but because of that, you may not have a sculpted body like a bodybuilder. (You might even appear to be skinny.) I suspect that most, if not all bodybuilders are fit but their emphasis is on the shape of their muscles and therefore their body and not so much on just being fit.

Steroids?

There is also the issue of steroids, which has been well documented, in professional sports by now. Steroids enhance muscle growth and there seems to be legal situations related to the use of them. There may even be health issues to consider if you are using steroids. Some of the sites I suggest will deal with these issues.

Pictures Are Important!

Of course, most bodybuilding sites will have pictures of successful builders. Pictures and bodybuilding go hand in hand. Therefore the better sites should have a good supply of snapshots. Also, because of the many competitions that are held around the world, reports from these events (and pictures) should find their way into a good site

The "most controversial bodybuilding site on the Internet" according to its own hype. It has a good forum for individuals to talk to each other about bodybuilding, nutrition, and diet.

Musclemania
Lots of videos and pictures of bodybuilding competitions.

Muscle Memory
Dedicated to preserving the history of bodybuilding, this site lets you search for info on historical bodybuilders.

MuscleNet.com
This site bills itself as a "muscle building and fitness magazine". It's basic but good.

Natural Muscle Hawaii
One of the nicest looking websites in this genre, it has lots of pictures and articles and doesn't look like one big steroid ad as some of them do!

Strength Cats
Dedicated primarily to strength training as opposed to muscle building, this is a good place to research how muscles work.
