The Best Auction Websites.

Your Comments Are Welcome.

What's this? Well, the best auction websites are ones like eBay where things are auctioned off. Believe it or not there are others and some of them are quite good. I've used eBay both to buy and sell items and it works fine. However, there have been times when I wasn't very excited about the search I did and so I thought it would be prudent to look at some other options.

What's an auction site used for?

Best auction Well, if you have something to sell, then you want to be able to post it and have people bid on it, so that you can get the "best price" (most you can) for it. If you're buying, you also want the "best price" but it will be the lowest price you can find! That's the way auctions work. Usually, both parties are happy with the end result.

What's important in an auction site?

First of all, people have to be able to find what they are looking for easily. Then they have to be able to bid for something and watch others bid on the same item, so they can come back with a higher bid if they want. Then, in the end, the buyer wants to receive the item in a timely fashion and the seller wants to get paid. If your site does this, then you likely have one of the best auction websites.

It should also have the basics of a good website and so, if you're going to recommend one that I missed here, make sure that it has these characteristics as well.

So, here are the best auction websites:

eBay
Just about everybody knows about this because it is undoubtedly the best auction website in terms of the volume of buyers and registered users on the Internet.

eBid
This is possibly the best alternative auction site to eBay and doesn't charge listing fees for sellers.

CQOut.com
Pronounced "Seek You Out", this is a popular auction website with a large buyer base. It may be worth registering for a test run as you sometimes find gems in these smaller sites.

uBid.com
A little bit different from the others as it auctions excess stock from all types of businesses in the US on their website. It probably won't interest people beyond the US borders.

Swoopo
Formerly known as Telebid, this website is a different type of online auction, for buyers only, which can get quite addictive. You pay a small amount to bid but get new goods at cheap prices.

UpperBid.com
Though small compared to eBay, these people have been around for a few years now and have built up a relatively large group of buyers and sellers.

Tazbar
This is another possible option for buying and selling online as it has low fees, but it does not have as much traffic as eBay or eBid.

Liquidation.com
As this name suggests, this site offers business surplus auctions for buyers and sellers.

Doba
Here is a site for serious Internet entrepreneurs who want to take the next step and make serious money by buying "stuff" at wholesale prices and then selling it on other auction websites for a profit. They even offer a free trial.

Bidz
Bidz is a specialist jewelry auction website where great bargains can be found if you are looking only for jewelry.
